Astro themes that arrive as a whole website

The Astro export turns a Kiekkist design into an Astro project that npm run build turns into a static website. Every section of the design becomes its own component, copy and lists sit next to it as content collections. You change content in files, not in templates.

It suits you if you want fast pages without a server to look after: the built site is HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript that runs on any web space. If you want to connect a headless CMS later, the project has the configuration for it.

How it goes live

  1. Buy the design or load a free one, unpack the Astro export.
  2. npm install, then npm run dev and change the content in src/content.
  3. npm run build writes the finished site to dist.
  4. Upload dist to your web space or deploy it through Git, for example with Coolify or an EU host.

What is not included

There is no editing interface built in. If clients should change copy themselves, you need a headless CMS or the WordPress export.

Questions

Which Astro version?

The export is written for Astro 7 and is built once for every design before it goes into the gallery.

Do I need Tailwind?

No. The design brings its own CSS with tokens. If you want Tailwind, take the React export or add it yourself.
