What is free stays free.

The skill and the tool with the checker are open source. The gallery pays for the work on them. The line is simple: tools are free, finished designs cost money.

Using the checker

Check any website, including your own rebuild. The checker opens the page in a real browser at 390, 768 and 1440 px, loads it again without JavaScript and with reduced motion, and blocks every request to other servers so it can count them.

npx kiekkist check https://example.org --profile bfsg
  • Hard errors: overflow, WCAG AA contrast, target sizes, missing alt text, focus, keyboard traps, reflow at 320 px, text spacing
  • Privacy: fonts from a CDN and every other third-party request, with the host
  • Motion: content visible without JavaScript, reduced motion respected, no endless loops without a pause
  • Slop signals: counted against a threshold instead of banned, for example caps labels above headings or large soft shadows
  • Token drift: colours and fonts outside the system

What it can’t do: automated tests cover only part of WCAG 2.2. The report lists the items a person has to check. A passing run means nothing measurable is broken. Whether a design is good is still your call.

Bugs and ideas as issues. New checker rules come with a source and a threshold, so they stay traceable.
